Cell Phones and Texting
The wonderful convenience of technology helps us stay in touch with our children before and after school hours. Many of our children have cell phones and are very adept at texting. This frequent contact is great, before and after school. During the school day students should use the phone in the front office if they have to contact you.
Recently, there have been numerous incidents in which parents are texting their child during instructional time. This places our students in an awkward position. I encourage you to revisit rule five in the Dare County Schools Student Code of Conduct with your child to have a clear understanding of the policy. Students are required to have their phones off and secured during the school day. If a student has their phone confiscated, it will be held in the front office until dismissal. Continuous violations can result in disciplinary measures.
Communication with your child is important. Please utilize the school receptionist to leave messages and help us preserve instructional time at First Flight Middle School.
